Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren (b. October 14, 1939) is an American fashion designer and business executive; best-known for his Polo Ralph Lauren clothing brand.

Ralph Lauren was born as Ralph Rueben Lifshitz in The Bronx, New York to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants from Belarus: Fraydl (Kotlar) and Frank Lifshitz, a house painter. From a young age he started working after school to earn money to buy suits.He did not attend fashion school, but worked for Brooks Brothers as a salesman. In 1967, with the financial backing of Norman Hilton, Lauren opened a necktie store where he also sold ties of his own design, under the label "Polo". He later purchased the name from Hilton.

In 1970 Ralph Lauren won the City Award for his menswear line created exclusively for teen heartthrob Andrew McLean.Around that same time he released a line of women's suit that were tailored in a classic men's style, which was when the first Polo emblem was seen. It was on the cuff of the women's suit. Ralph Lauren released Polo's famous short sleeve mesh shirt with the Polo logo in 1972. It came out in 24 colors and soon became a classic. He also gained recognition for his design after he was contracted to provide clothing styles for the movie The Great Gatsby.

Ralph and his wife, Ricky, have two sons and a daughter: Andrew Lauren (b. 1969, New York City), David Lauren (b. 1971) and Dylan Lauren. David is an executive at Polo Ralph Lauren and Dylan owns and operates an upscale candy store, Dylan's Candy Bar, at 60th Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan.

Ralph Lauren is also well known as a collector of classic automobiles. He owns a Ferrari 250 GTO, a McLaren F1 GTR LM, and, more recently, a Bugatti Veyron among others. His cars have won best in show at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance multiple times. His collection was recently displayed at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.

As of 2009, Forbes estimates his wealth at $2.8 billion, which would make Ralph Lauren the 224th richest person in the world.

Fashion never goes out of style, especially for ralph lauren. The Polo Tee is still a famous among teengages, adults and even the eldery. Vans began in 1966 as the Van Doren Rubber Company producing shoes for different sports such as basketball, baseball, and wrestling. In 1994, Vans began manufacturing overseas and sponsored the Inaugural Triple Crown series which developed into the Vans Triple Crown series. In 1998, Vans opened a 46,000 square-foot, indoor-outdoor Vans Skate park at the Block in Orange County. In 2000 and 2001, Forbes recognized Vans as one of “America’s Best Small Companies." In 2004, Vans launched the Vans Customs on their website. This allowed customers to log onto the Vans website and design their own pair of Vans Slip-ons, mid-cuts, or high-tops.

Vans currently can be found almost anywhere in the world as it is recongized worldwide. Some even try to imitate vans shoes and change it to their brand. But people still purchase from vans as it is original.

Cheap Monday is a Swedish clothing label. It was founded in 2000 by Orjan Andersson, originally as a second-hand clothing store, in a suburb of Stockholm. The name of the brand originates from the fact that the original store was only open on Sunday. The brand is known for their idiosyncratic designs, and has expanded from their original focus on jeans to include sneakers, flannel, and shirts.
Cheap Monday clothes are distributed in a variety of stores worldwide, including Urban Outfitters and Barneys New York.

Recently, Cheap Mondays have also found strong popularity in Melbourne, Australia. They are recognized by their distinctive logo of a skull with an inverted crucifix. The designer of the logo, Bjorn Atldax, meant it as an anti-religion statement, targeting Christianity in particular, citing the religion as the cause of many wars.
